Kourtney's Senior Photos

This past Sunday, it was a beautiful 70 degrees with a stunning Carolina blue sky. It was perfection for a photo shoot! I had chosen Rankin Lake Park in Gastonia, NC for this particular photo shoot. But, what does everyone wanna do on a winter day at 70 degrees? Go to the park of course! It was so crowded, not a single parking space open when I got there. I had to park on the side of a hill. Luckily I had shot there before so I knew some semi secluded spots for photos!

Miss Kourtney arrived shortly after I did, and had a whole crew of people with her. Mom, Dad, little sister, Best Friend, and Boyfriend! I thought it was so sweet that everyone came to take part in the photo shoot. It shows that she didn't get through school all on her own, each one of these people had a special part in the love and support it took to get her there!

I wanted a majority of the shoot to be completely candid. Candid's are my favorite because you capture the realness of the moment. Kourtney's mom had also mentioned to me while we were setting up the session that she liked candid shots as well. So I took photos of Kourtney and each family/friend, and just asked them to talk to each other. What happened in those photos was magical. It was everything I could have hoped for and more. They turned out to be some of my favorite photos I've ever done. I had such a great time laughing and working with them, i only hope that I am lucky enough to get to do it again some day!

Here are some of my favorite photos from our time together!

Mom got a little emotional :)

How cute are they?

Saying "deuces" to those high school years!

Miss Laci H.

I had been keeping an eye on the weather for a few days before this session, it looked like it was definitely gonna rain. I believe Laci's mom and I had a conversation about rescheduling at least once. Then I decided to make the best of it, and told her to bring an umbrella. Sure enough the day came and it was all gray clouds and rain. We didn't let that stop us! The rain turned out to be what made that session so great! We did a lot of umbrella shots. Which are some of my favorites to this day. I found out she was a cheerleader so I asked her to jump around, run, and just have fun. She had no problem with all of that!

A few weeks before our shoot, I had found a pin on pinterest about how to photograph glitter. I wanted to try it so bad, I knew Laci would be the perfect one to try it with. I had the exact settings I needed for that shot written on my phone. This was September so I was still learning about the settings and stuff on my camera. I told her to cup her hands, I poured a bunch of glitter confetti in her hands. All I told her was to blow the confetti out of her hands when I said three! The photo that resulted from that moment is my all time favorite!

By the end of the shoot, we were soaked, and cold. But I wouldn't have it any other way. To this day if I have a session planned and they're calling for rain, I still don't cancel. I have been known to wrap a grocery bag around my camera a time or two.

Here are some photos from my time with Laci!
