Katie's Photo Shoot Birthday Party

I've known the Starns family for a couple years now, well 4/5 of them. They are always some of my favorites to work with. They always have new and fun ideas for our sessions. And mom always has the best ideas. This time around it was Katie's birthday, and her party theme was photo shoot! I had never heard of a party like that but I was thankful they asked me to be a part of it!

The birthday girl gathered her sisters and some of her best friends for the party. Katie wore pink and everyone else was instructed to wear yellow. We met up in downtown Lincolnton and walked down to the rail trail for our shoot. Let me tell you, some of the best people to take photos of are dancers, which all these girls are. They always have a pose ready for me before I even have to ask. They make it so easy.

We walked around in the nasty heat for a while taking group shots, single shots, some with her sisters, and some with her dance troop. By the time we finished I think everyone was done with that heat! I walked the girls back up to main street and handed out some party favors I had put together. Then I gave Katie a little birthday gift I got for her! What girl doesn't love a pink emoji poop pillow wearing a crown?!

All in all, it was a really fun shoot. Such a great birthday party idea! Here are some shots of just my part of Katie's party. Her awesome mom had plenty more in store for the girls after we were done! <3 nbsp="" p="">

Edited to add *No one was harmed in the making of these photos! Just a little sisterly love!*

So cute, right?!

Baby Colt

When my son was 5 years old, his Kindergarten teacher retired halfway though the year. He doesn't do change well, so I worried about the new teacher that would be taking her place for the rest of the year. Little did I know at the time, how much we would need that teacher and her support that year. I am happy to say that even after that year we stayed in contact (for the last 7 years.) I would text her every so often to see if she knew the new teachers that my boy was getting that year, and if she thought they'd be a good fit for him. We'd text when she got placed at a new school, and I was desperate to know if she would be at my sons school. Most recently I texted to congratulate her on her precious new baby!
Less than a week later we planned a newborn photo session! I like to get that first photo session in within the first 2 weeks. When they are still all sleepy and bendy. So this past Sunday I headed over to their house on baby Colt's 2 week birthday. The session started with a bit of crying, but once mommy fed him, he was content as can be. From there on the rest of the shoot was magical. I got to hold him and smell that new baby smell. And can we talk about that hair? So cute!
Here are some photos of my afternoon with baby Colt!

Baby Sneezes!

Big Brother Braylon had to get in there too of course!

2015...year in review!

I did this at the end of last year and thought it might be fun to do again! My client list got a a whole lot bigger this year, and I got to cross of a few bucket list items this year, and some of those clients turned into really dear friends. I was asked to photograph four weddings this year, and each one of them was amazing and beautiful and so full of love. I felt so lucky to be able to capture those big days.

I also got to witness and photograph the births of 1 1/2 babies! I say half cause I only got to be there for the labor part of the first one, when I got a call from my husband that he had been seriously injured at work and was on his way to the hospital by ambulance! I got to go visit that baby a couple weeks later and take a couple newborn pics that you will see here! The 2nd baby was an incredible experience. The mom was my cousin Jaci, I remembered the day she was born, and there I was watching her child be born. She was induced so I was determined to stay there until I saw a baby and that I did. I didn't sleep or eat for more than 24 hours for fear that I would miss something. I got every last shot I wanted, and they were some of the most beautiful ones I have done this year! Some how I was able to take photos, calm down the daddy, and take a video all at the same time. I'm hoping someday Jaci will let me share that video, its not graphic at all, it is just her reaction the second her sweet baby was here. It was the first time I had cried all day. I still have the video on my phone and cry again every time I see it.

I photographed small families and really big families, some preggo mamas, and some awesome kids. I also got to photograph some special days at my church. And from Nov.-Dec. my face was glued to my camera non stop pretty much, with families and people that needed Christmas card photos, and others who actually wanted to give my photos as gifts to their family. I never dreamed that would happen.

I've wanted to be a photographer as long as I can remember. I never thought it could happen though, This year has certainly proved me wrong, and I couldn't be happier, or more proud of myself. I can't wait to see what 2016 has in store for me! I already have 3 weddings on my schedule and cannot wait!

Here are some of my favorites and most liked photos of 2015!

I'm sure there's some I missed, but this year was a busy one! I can't wait for lots more in 2016!!
