Holliday Family

This past Sunday I had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful Holliday Family! We had decided on the rail trail in Lincolnton. Which I didn't find out til our shoot is undergoing a little improvement. They are in the middle of painting a huge train mural down there. Also they are in the process of making the train car a historical spot. So they have it and the building that it's attached to all fenced off. Which made for some extra editing, cause those are the best spots down there for photos! The family was made up of mom, dad, and two precious little girls. I had purchased some treats for them before our session, and let them know right away that if they were good and smiled a lot that they would get them at the end of our time together. That's all they needed to hear and they turned on the smiles and didn't stop til the end! I gave them some awesome pink light up glasses, and some candy, they were thrilled with both! I am a big fan of bribing for smiles :)

Here are some photos from our time together!

Prom 2015!

I was asked by Michaela to take some prom photos of her and her date last week. The weather wasn't looking good, 100% chance of rain. I'd already had to reschedule one session because of it. But, you can't reschedule the prom! Or the photos, so we met up hoping for the best. It was a little drizzly at the beginning and raining harder by the end, but I was prepared with umbrellas. I was probably looking ten shades of crazy myself, I found one of those disposable plastic poncho's at home and put it on to protect me and my camera from the rain. I may have looked crazy but it worked! She had sent me a picture of her dress before we met so I could pick out a fitting location. I knew exactly the kind of backdrops this dress needed as soon as I saw it. It needed bright backgrounds, bricks, metal, buildings, all of it. So I asked her to meet me in downtown Lincolnton, where we both live. The town may be small, but it has some stunning backdrops if you know where to look for them! Michaela and her date (I say her date, because he was the strong silent type. I never got his name lol ) did a great job, and didn't seem to mind me dragging them all over town!

Here are the photos from our time together!

She asked me beforehand if she could be a typical prom girl
and blow glitter in a photo so I brought some along!

Holden is turning three!

Holden's mama contacted me towards the end of December, to take some photos of him for his upcoming birthday. Just like me Lacie likes to plan ahead, so after we talked details we set an end of February date. Thanks to a couple of snow storms that date had to go. The look we were going for just wasn't gonna work in the snow. Only 2 weeks later, it was a sunny almost 80 * day. That's North Carolina weather for you!

Holden is turning three in a few weeks, and his birthday party is the theme of his favorite movie, Planes! I hit up Pinterest for all the planes ideas I could find. I came across this one that both Lacie and I really liked with a cardboard box airplane. I put it together and about 17 coats of paint later I was done. Did you know cardboard absorbs paint?! I do now!

Our session day was this past Sunday, and like I said almost 80 and SUNNY! Holden was just the cutest little thing I've ever seen! He was very wary of me at first. But once he saw all the goodies I had stashed in my camera bag, we were fast friends! A Pez dispenser is always my secret weapon for smiles, and I just happened to find a planes one! You'll see it in a few of the photos!

I had a super fun afternoon with Holden, we ran around the beautiful West Lincoln park, rolled on the ground, slid down the slide. Every thing an almost 3 year old boy likes to do!
Here are a few photos from our day!

Holden's Grandma came along for the session!
