Baby Colt

When my son was 5 years old, his Kindergarten teacher retired halfway though the year. He doesn't do change well, so I worried about the new teacher that would be taking her place for the rest of the year. Little did I know at the time, how much we would need that teacher and her support that year. I am happy to say that even after that year we stayed in contact (for the last 7 years.) I would text her every so often to see if she knew the new teachers that my boy was getting that year, and if she thought they'd be a good fit for him. We'd text when she got placed at a new school, and I was desperate to know if she would be at my sons school. Most recently I texted to congratulate her on her precious new baby!
Less than a week later we planned a newborn photo session! I like to get that first photo session in within the first 2 weeks. When they are still all sleepy and bendy. So this past Sunday I headed over to their house on baby Colt's 2 week birthday. The session started with a bit of crying, but once mommy fed him, he was content as can be. From there on the rest of the shoot was magical. I got to hold him and smell that new baby smell. And can we talk about that hair? So cute!
Here are some photos of my afternoon with baby Colt!

Baby Sneezes!

Big Brother Braylon had to get in there too of course!

Baby Carter

Welcome to the world baby Carter! I got to meet this little guy last week, in the midst of a slow season! I had my trusty side kick with me, my 3 yr old son, something that I will never do again! He loves him some babies, and loves crawling all over his mama. He definitely made this shoot a challenge.
Baby Carter was around 10 days old here, during the first two weeks is the best time for newborn shots. Mostly because babies are still really sleepy and bendy around that time. This baby wasn't too sleepy when we got started, but that totally worked as you will see. Once he got a feeding from his mama, he fell into a really deep sleep and everything was easy for the rest of the session!
Here are some photos from my morning with this sweet newborn baby!

Sophia Rae

More Sophia, are you tired of her yet? Impossible! She's just perfection from head to toe. I had the privilege of doing her newborn photos this past Sunday. I wanted Jaci and Caleb to have a chance to get home, get settled and breathe before I popped in for more photos! But I had to get to her within the first 2 weeks. Because that's when babies are still so soft, and squishy, and bendable. When I went over to see Sophie that day my sisters, mom and aunt all tagged along because they hadn't had a chance to see Miss Sophie yet. I was a little nervous, because I don't usually take photos with such an audience. But my sisters did most of the work of helping me set up the props, and the baby, and changing her outfits. But first everyone had to have their own meet and greet with Sophie. After everyone was done taking in all the wonderfulness that is Sophie, I got to work!
Here are some photos from our time together!

I know this isn't the first and certainly not the last you'll see of Miss Sophie. Her mama Jaci has me picked as her personal photographer, for life pretty much. ;)
I wouldn't have it any other way! I love my new little cousin so much already!
